The 1980s brought revolutionary change to the music scene. MIDI enabled the production of high-quality music from home studios, leading to new synth-driven electronic genres of music such as Techno, Rave, House, Electronica, Ambient and Trance. Major acts included Michael Jackson (Billboard's Artist of the Decade), U2, Duran Duran, Madonna, Prince, Peter Gabriel, INXS and early Hip Hop artists such as LL Cool J, Public Enemy and 2 Live Crew.
